The park and lighthouse will be closed for construction during water line construction along the park's entrance road.

The trail is closed east of the Eagle Creek Fish Hatchery because of a rock slide. Repairs should be complete by early summer.

The Latourell Falls parking lot at Guy Talbot State Park will be closed through July for parking lot and restroom improvements. Seneca Fouts Memorial State Natural Area will be closed May 1-Oct. 15 for parking lot and overlook improvements.

A pair of bald eagles is nesting in a tree between the bivouac camping area and the Crooked River. Ten sites along the canyon rim are closed, as is a section of the Canyon Trail. The closures will last through July 31, 2012. All climbing routes remain open.

Although the Deschutes Campground opens May 1, the Crooked River campground remains closed for major water and sewer systems upgrades and campground improvements. The campground is usually open year-round, but is closed because of the extensive work. Read news release. Campground should reopen early summer.

 

Construction is under way on a 1.6-mile section of the Historic Columbia River Highway between John Yeon State Park  and Moffett Creek. The park remains open (short closures may occur), but expect noise and watch for heavy equipment. During the first phase of work, park visitors leaving the park and planning to travel eastbound on Interstate 84 will be detoured from accessing the freeway at Warrendale (Exit 37) to Exit 35 at the Ainsworth Interchange.
