Federal law requires that governments and agencies to involve the public in any undertaking that may affect historic or archaeological resources.
Governments and agencies can choose how to fulfill this requirement, but in general, the public can comment during any part of the process as undertakings are reviewed for compliance with the law. See the links below for more information about federal and state laws and processes.
