Oregon National Register and Survey Program
Charles Applegate House, Drain
Oregon's National Register and Survey Program is part of the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), located within the Heritage Programs division of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The program assists property owners, governments, and interested citizens in identifying and listing Oregon's most historically important resources in the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register is the nation's official list of buildings, structures, districts, sites and objects significant in American history, architecture, archaeology, and culture, and is maintained by the National Park Service in Washington D.C.

Oregon Historic Sites Database
The Oregon Historic Sites Database, a searchable database for both National Register and surveyed properties, is now available online. The Oregon Historic Sites Database includes nearly 45,000 records, including all properties listed in the National Register, and all properties that have been surveyed and inventoried since the 1970s. Records include basic information about properties, such as address, historic name, construction date, historic use, and architectural style.

Several new features will be added to the database over the next year including expanded search capabilities and the ability to print record-specific data and summary data for several buildings. Please read the Disclaimer page for details about limitations and future capabilities.

We are interested in your feedback about the Oregon Historic Sites Database, and would like you to let us know what works, doesn't work, could be improved, etc. Send us your comments to ORsurvey.feedback@state.or.us.
