The best way to build support for local history and heritage preservation is to convince the broadest possible audience of its economic value, value to quality of life, educational value, aesthetic value, and value to community identity.
 
8 Steps toward Building Support for Preservation
 

1. Understand your purpose
 
2. Be able to state your purpose clearly
 
3. Share the interesting, enticing, and historical information about your project
 
4. Be as transparent as possible in your purpose
 
5. Educate some more!
 
6. Target potential partner groups and organizations, and
ask for help
 
7. Gather stories about people participing in history and heritage preservation and share them with others
 
8. Think long term!
