Because of severe flooding at the Salem Motor Pool and the potential for further flooding, the daily vehicle rental operations for Fleet were moved on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, to DPSST, 4190 Aumsville Highway. Customers can still reach Fleet at the main Motor Pool phone number, 503-378-4377, which transfers to the new location. Directions to DPSST appear below.
Please note these important announcements about temporary changes to Fleets services.
Daily Rentals
Because of this situation, we cannot accommodate after-hours returns or before-hours dispatches. Until further notice, vehicles must be picked up and returned within our normal hours of 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Our ability to fulfill all reservations at the temporary location is somewhat limited. If we cannot provide a rental, agencies may use Enterprise Rent a Car or Hertz on state price agreements. Dave Leese from Enterprise has offered to assist agencies. He can be reached at 541-210-1008 or 503-612-8195.
Refueling Services
The Motor Pool facility on Airport Road will remain open but we will focus on recovery operations over the next week. Only Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and E-85 (Ethanol) fuel is available at this point; card readers are fully functional. We will update agencies when all fueling services are restored.
Flood Damage
At least a dozen state employees vehicles parked at Salem Motor Pool were inundated by flood waters. Please contact Ellen Hewitt, 503-378-5508, Statewide Risk Management if you were affected.
If all goes well, we will move operations back to Airport Road next week. Until then, we look forward to serving our customers at the temporary DPSST location. Thank you for your patience.
Directions to DPSST
From I-5:
http://www.oregon.gov/DPSST/Microsoft%20Word%20-%20DrivingDirections.pdfFrom downtown Salem: go east on Mission and take the Lancaster Drive exit turning to the right (south) toward Home Depot. Lancaster drive turns into Aumsville Highway after you proceed straight through the light where Cordon Road crosses. You will pass the Marion County Dog Shelter and Marion County Facility on the left. DPSST is also on the left side opposite Santiam Correctional Facility. After proceeding through the gate, turn to the left and there will be signs to guide you to customer parking. The temporary dispatch office is located in the loading dock area of the building, which is visible from the customer parking area. Please obey all signs and directions on the facility grounds. We are very lucky our friends at DPPST could take us in and we appreciate your cooperation to make our stay a pleasant one for them.
