SFMS now offers remote training for R*STARS and ADPICS. As well as a classroom environment for self-study with a trainer present for questions, SFMS is providing that same self-study program at the students' desks. Students will work through the modules at their own pace just as in the classroom environment. The trainer will be available by telephone or e-mail to answer any questions that arise. This eliminates travel time, which is especially important for students working outside of Salem. We will e-mail training modules and passwords to the registered students the night before the day of training. The passwords and access to the training region will work only on the specified training day. Training will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. One possible drawback to remote training is any office environment’s normal distractions and interruptions. Our own experience has shown that it is best to act as if the employee actually did go out for training. Put a note at the cubicle or office door, forward the phone and use Outlook’s out of the office assistant are options to help solve this problem. We plan to remote train up to 20 employees. We may adjust the number for future training based on our experience. The SFMS trainer will need to prepare specifically for each trainee. Please consider this as you decide if you can commit the day to training. Contact Pamela Armer at 503-373-0751 or pamela.armer@state.or.us if you have questions regarding training. If you have attended a training before, please remember to have your copy of the training manual and materials needed for any incomplete coursework. Thank you for your interest and understanding.
